Author Ann Patchett says... "A short story really should capture the moment in which things turn, and, as we all know, sometimes the most important things turn over a glance, a cup of coffee, walking the dog,” she says. “It can be a very natural moment in your life, but the story focuses on the moment when things change"
Try to keep this in mind when writing your story.
The top three stories will be read by the author and recorded as Podcasts for you to listen to at home.
For our first contest (which is optional), write an original short story that began with the line, "Some people swore that the house was haunted," and ends with the line, "Nothing was ever the same again after that."
